Boil in a Bag Omelet

That's right...you heard me right...boil your omelet in a bag.  When I saw this idea on Food Network I knew I had to give it a try and I've been doing it ever since.  This is a great way to get the kids involved and everyone gets to have their own individual ingredients to their likings.

Boil in a Bag Omelet

I start with about 2 eggs per person and whisk in a bowl.  I always add a little milk because it makes them a little fluffy.  Add salt and pepper.  Easy enough so far...

Here is the fun part.  Give everyone a regular size baggie and let them add their ingredients...ham, cheese, bacon, onions, peppers, sausage...the options are endless.

After they add a few ingredients you need to add about 1 1/2 cups of the egg mixture.  You can add more than this but I find this makes a good size omelet and the more egg you add, the longer it takes to cook.

Make sure your bags are sealed well and add to a boiling pot of water.

Try to keep your bags up right in the pot so your omelet doesn't run.  If you do the size I recommended you will have to boil about 15 minutes.  You can tell if they are done by tilting the bag up to see if any egg is still runny.  If you do miss it and have a little bit of runny egg you can always stick it in the microwave for a few seconds after you take it out of the bag.  And voila...your omelet...
